Throwback Thursday

Pat here with a Throwback Thursday post. Pictured above is my gram when she was 19 years old. In October, she will celebrate her 104th birthday!! When she turned 101, I created a canvas inspired by her zest for life. It was one of my first mixed media canvases, and I discovered a passion for this art medium.

Every year for Christmas, I have made her a birthday card for each and every member of the family. I write each name in giant letters on each envelope (her eyes aren't as good as they were) and then sort them in calendar order. She still remembers dates so she knows when to pull a card out, knowing that whther she can read the name on the envie or not, it will be the correct one.

Two things you should take with you from this post:

1-Always try something NEW--a product, a fold, a technique, an artform. You never know when PASSION will bloom inside your creative soul!

2-There are lots of homebound grandmas and others who would love to send their family members a birthday card. Giving them the assortment of cards like I have done for my Gram may be the BEST PRESENT they ever receive!

Don't forget we have a new CHALLENGE that runs until May 14th. Make an easel card and link up with us for your chance to win some amazing digital images from Scribbles Designs.

  1. Pat M;
    Awesome write-up on your Grandmother. Why don't you send out an email close to her birthday calling for everyone to send her birthday cards. WOW---104th birthday. I'll definitely send her one if you give the address.
