Salute to Parents Blog Hop

Welcome to our Mother's Day and Father's Day Blog Hop!  Expect to see some great cards, layouts and projects that will hopefully inspire you to find a handmade way to show your love for your parents.
And what would a Blog Hop be without prizes??
This month, we have a lovely offering from Shannon Leffew.  Here's what she has to say about herself:
Hello! I am a wife and SAHM of 4. I have been scrapbooking since 1997 and have since fell in love doing altered projects. I created my etsy store to earn a little extra income. I feature mostly flowers in my store but I will also do custom orders for almost anything. In my spare time I also like to garden, take pics, read and host parties. Please stop by my blog and leave me some love http://shannonleffew.blogspot.com .  I would also love it if you would visit me at my Etsy store HERE
Pictured is just a sampling of her flowers.
So, check out our offerings here, and then hop on down the list to see what everyone else has in store for your viewing pleasure.  Don't forget to leave a little love at each blog. Everyone who does gets a chance to win some beautiful flowers from Shannon!  Then come back here and tell us a favorite story about your mom or dad.  After all, where would we be without our parents!

PAT using Crafter's Companion "Oh Duck" by Sheena Douglas

New Challenge, New Winner, and a New BLOG HOP!!

Thanks to all who took the going green challenge for April and Earth Day.  I saw some amazing projects, gorgeous cards, and wrote down a few helpful tips on recycling and upcycling.  Our May challenge will be to use FLOWERS on your cards, layouts and latered art.  This month, we will have a twist to the challenge: there is a secret color.  If you use the secret color, along with your projects covered in flowers, you will receive an extra chance in the May drawing!!  So get out those flower images, primas, and handmade flowers and let's see what blooms on your craft table!!  Challenge will run for the month of May, ending on May 31st at midnight.  Have fun, crafters!
Next up is our May Salute to Parents BLOG HOP.  Check out the Mother's Day cards, as well as Father's Day cards, as you hop along our crafty trail.  Leave a little love on each blog, because this month one lucky person who comments on every blog including this one will get a chance to win a fabulous prize from Shannon Leffew, whose art can be seen at her Etsy shop HERE. More on Shannon and her prize offering to follow.
Meanwhile, the hop starts on Friday, May 11th and runs through Mother's Day, May 13th.  Want an extra chance to win?  Start following this blog, if you haven't done so already!  Not enough, you say!!!  In your comment on this blog, tell us a funny or favorite story about your mom!  That's three chances to win!!
Finally, it's time to announce the winner of the Going Green April Blog Challenge.  Random generator has pulled Number #1. Carolyn, that's you! Email me at patacake1956@yahoo.com for your prize.
Thanks again, everyone!  Happy crafting!!

Go Green Challenge

Hi guys!  Teresa here, I'm back with a little go green project for you all to try.  This is a little gift bag of sorts to hold candies, chocolates, or maybe just a little gift with some tissue paper.  This one only requires a paper towel roll, adhesive, twine and a few little scraps of paper.  I cut the paper towel roll to about 7 inches and squished it flat.  Cut all the way down the roll on the side seam and line the inside with a scrap piece of pattern paper..keep in mind that you will want to coordinate it with the outer pattern of paper.  Once the inside is covered, fold it back together and run your outer pattern paper around the outside paremeter beginning and ending on the back side of the roll.  This will cover and hold your cut seam area.  Now that your cardboard is completely covered, cut a 3 inch slit down the middle of the front of the cardboard.  You will want to curl the edges a bit as you fold them downward in a V fashion.   Now you can embellish the front however you like. When you are happy with the results, staple the end shut. I punched two holes and added some baker's twine for hanging.  Now for the inside..I have used scrap pieces of cardboard along with some prima package backings and pieces of scrap cardstock to create some little vintage embellie holders for a gift.   Completely GREEN!

April Challenge and a Couple of Winners

We hope you had a fun time hopping along with us, and that you were unable to stop a giggle, laugh or guffaw escape out of your mouth when looking at the cards presented to you.  We had a lot of fun making them.  As Linda Ellerbee said, "A good time to laugh is any time you can".
If you remember, our sponsor, Floppy Latte's Digital Designs, offered a $10 gift coupon to a random winner.  All you had to do was visit each blog, leave a comment, and tell us your favorite funny.  The random generator chose Sue in CT!  Congrats, Sue!  We will let Jessica know to send you the coupon.  Have fun with your new digi's!!
Thank you so much Jessica for helping to make our Blog Hop a success.  Your designs are funny and cute, and we love surfing your catalog of digi's!

Now it's time to talk challenges.  We loved your projects for the Spring challenge.  Random generator came up with KARISSA's name.  Congrats, Karissa! Grab the winner's badge, and we will let Melissa know that you won the March Blog challenge.

April's Challenge is a good one for you and Mother Earth.  In celebration of Earth Day, April 22, we are challenging you to "go green" with your project.  Make a card, layout or altered art, but remember to reuse, recycle or upcycle in the crafting of your creation.  When you link your entry, make sure to mention how you saved a tree.  To inspire you to craft green, here are just a couple of my own projects that I made:

Using Squigglefly's Chi Anniversary digi image, I saved a tree by color blocking with leftover strips of patterned paper for the background.

Here's a Queen Kat Designs stamped image.  I saved a "tree" by using a cutting of lace leftover from another project, as well as making my own flowers out of punched circles cut from small pieces of double-sided patterned papers from my stash.

Throughout the month, our DT will show you how they can "go green" and make some gorgeous cards and layouts.

Happy crafting!

Who's The Biggest Fool?

Today is the day when no punches (or punchlines) are pulled.  It is an Anything Goes- Look Out-You've Got to be Kidding kind of day.  So of course we have to maintain the surprise factor here on Scrapbook Place by hosting an APRIL FOOLS' DAY BLOG HOP!
This month's Blog Hop is sponsored by Floppy Latte's Digital Designs:

Hi, My name is Jessica aka Floppy Latte.  I am a digital stamp designer and have Floppy Latte’s Digital Designs.  I’ve been designing stamps for almost 2 years but drawing and creating as long as I have been able to hold a crayon!  At FLDD, I offer papers, digi stamps, and digital die cut files for crafters!  I love to draw and this seemed the perfect venue for that passion.  I have an active blog and the store always has a freebie on line for you!  I do hope that you visit Floppy Latte’s Digital Designs.  I am sure there is something there that you will love!

One random winner will receive a $10.00 Gift coupon toward your purchase in the FLDD catalog!!

Here's a peek at how foolish you can get with one of her images:

Pat's card uses "Toy Train" digi image.  The inside sentiment reads:
"Most days it never even leaves the station"   Love those button wheels!

Sue uses "Un Grappola d'Uva (A Bunch of Grapes)" digi image on her cute card.  It looks like you could pluck a grape right off the card!  Great coloring!

Are you rolling on the floor yet?  When you're finished snickering, check out the blogs on our Foolish Hop and leave a comment at each.  Return here to tell us which project made you laugh or amused you the most.  Those hoppers who do this will have their names put in a draw for our fabulous Floppy Latte's Digital Designs gift coupon.
Here's the complete list of Blogs in the Hop.  If you get lost, come back here.

Happy Hopping!!

CASE: 4U

For our Spring Theme this month, I created a card for our group leader, Linda Weber, who had some eye surgery. It's from all of us at Scrapbook Place. We wish her well, a speedy recovery!

Occasionally, I like to CASE cards. I wanted something extra nice for Linda. So, this card is based on a design by Carla Peicheff. It was published in A Card A Day, A LeisureArts Publication.
