January 31, 2011 - Love a Challenge

This week's challenge is to create a Valentine.

Sketch 1 31 11 created specifically for Scrapbook Place.  Please refer back to our group or blog if you decide to share this sketch.  Thanks!
Do not let lack of a color or shape stop you from participating.  The point of challenges is to get you to create.  Use what you have, and surprise someone with something beautiful you have created.
We hope you will join us at Scrapbook Place.  Maybe you would like to send your card to someone in need?  We have an active list of great folks to send cards to.  Recently, we sent valentines to Donna, who volunteers at a local senior citizen center.  She and her kids will be hand delivering a BUNCH of Valentines soon, all made by members of Scrapbook Place.  Each week, we'll have a winner.  Sometimes, we have prizes, but we'll always have a badge for the winner!

WINNER UPDATE - I asked my son to pick a number between one and nine, and he chose SIX.  Please claim your badge.  If you are a member of Scrapbook Place, you will receive one PIF, you can use this at any time.  When you claim your win, just let us know and we'll put a note in your Member Debits/Credits record.

  2. LOL @ Laura...
Well, My card is posted!! I had a BLAST making this adorable little furry friend, I named him Patches!!
One of my all time favorite spring quotes is from John Lennon "love is the flower you've got to let grow" and I thought that was just PERFECT for this free digi stamp image from Motivet! (http://fridaysketchersblog.blogspot.com/2010/06/challenge-106-sponsored-by-motivet.html)

You can't really tell in the picture, but the pink oval background is sprayed with silver glimmer mist. in real life it looks AMAZING next to the gray of the kitty and the gray of the background!!!

I colored patches with some patches to make him look like a calico so he would match the background paper.

I colored him with prisma colored pencils and blended everything together to smooth it out with gamsol and blending stumps.

The three hearts on the bottom are chipboard hearts. I pressed them into my embossing glue pad and coated them up really good. I did the purple one with judikins embossing tinsel and the other two with just a generic brand embossing powder.

I did NOT realize until AFTER I had put the card together, that the image was supposed to be centered, not to the right. So, I don't think I'll win this blog challenge because I didn't follow the directions, but that is OK, I had fun anyways!!!

If you look carefully, you'll see that patches is hiding a heart somewhere. Can you find it? ;)

  3. I used a very free rein in making this Valentine day card. I solemnly swear tyhat no new product weas used to make this card (stash bash challenge). I thought the pirate lady sitting on the treasure chest went perfectly with my stamp on the inside, that reads "There is no greater treasure than a good friend". Colored her with Copics, used Gold Stickles for the coins on the beach, and pasted a tiny feather in her hat!
